Finished stuff:

1) My education at Mt. Suck. I'm finally graduating from it today! Yay! I just don't like the horrible maroon color of the grad gown. Reminds me too much of UP and the fact that I could've graduated with a double degree in music and some other useful major from there if we didn't leave the Philippines. On the bright side though...

2) The decision on whether to be a UCLA Bruin or UCI Anteater is done--I'm going to be a Bruin. Yes. Baby brown bear mascot trumps long-nosed, weird-looking creature that eats ants mascot. I just need to submit some more paperwork, take ID pics and send them off, attend orientation, etc. UCLA is a great school, and even though the tasering incident and the reports of unequal pay for women in the psych department (which is gonna be my department, *gasp*) turned me off a lot, it can still provide the best education for me while still letting me live where I want to be.

3) NBA finals. The freaking Spurs won. I am going to scream.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unfinished stuff:
1) Waiting for the Chamber Singers audition results. For those of you who don't know, Chambers is a world-famous choir that has been winning competitions here and abroad...and yes, they are from Mt. Suck! Pig and I got into the second round of auditions, but I don't know if we made the group yet or not. I've wanted to be in Chambers since the first time I heard them sing, but I missed the auditions my first year, so I joined Concert Choir and waited to audition again. This is something I really want to do, just like I wanted to be in the UP Madrigals when I was back home. Sure, if I get in, I'll have a hard time going between UCLA and Mt. Suck, and it'll take a lot of time and effort to balance Chambers and academics, but this is going to be a great experience. If I get in, that is.
2) Remember those Chinese horoscopes I promised people? I'm gonna finish them during the break, I swear! I didn't forget--I just got really, really busy. It's all Mark's fault. Him and his bio! But now that I don't really have anything to do this summer but wait for audition results, orientation dates to go by, and fall semester to start at UCLA.
3) Paperwork at UCLA. I don't want to have to worry about this, but meh...it's something I have to do.
4) I wanna learn how to do this. Yes, I gave up coffee, but I'm not gonna drink it! I swear! I just wanna learn how to do the pretty stuff.
5) I need to set a doctor's appointment for a really painful and annoying condition, if it doesn't go away on its own. It's a very common thing that most women get it at least once in their lives, but dammit, why me, and why now during finals/grad week??? I need cranberry juice and lots of fluids...
That Sinking Feeling
  • 3rd Jun, 2007 at 1:01 PM
hamel, Broken Violin
I woke up this morning with a sinking feeling in my stomach, and no, this is not because of the Denny's breakfast-food-at-dinnertime.
The sinking feeling might have been caused by the weird dream I had. The first part was me driving around with my family and looking at ostentatious Christmas lights in the neighborhood, like we did in the Philippines. Then it melted off and went into a bank-robbery thriller kind of situation. Oddly enough, the second part of the dream was played out like a trailer for a movie, complete with voice-overs (I wish the voice was James Earl Jones's, but it was the voice of that random guy who always does voice-overs for movie trailers). It was something about a team of robbers who rob a bank and leave a member of the team (a woman; yes, discrimination!) stranded on the roof to fend for herself and her share of the loot as the authorities search for the robbers. I can't remember exactly how the thing went, but I remember that she was able to avoid the cops for quite a while. Dunno if she ever got caught. I guess I'll have to wait to see if my subconscious pops out the entire movie the next time I go to sleep.
It may be because of something I realized as I woke up: Pig is very welcome in our house--in fact, my family practically considers him a part of us now--but I can't really say the same about me and his house. It's sad, but I guess it's just one of those things no one can do anything about. I'm just not entirely comfortable when we spend time there, even when we get there and no one is home. When it comes to people and places, I've realized this--people either like you or they don't, and you either feel comfortable in places or not, and there's really nothing you can do to make that icky feeling go away when you don't feel quite right around the said people/places.
It may be because I just realized what shallow, backbiting bitches some of my acquaintances really are, and it quite sickens me that people can be so petty and stupid. Sure, I'm not above shallowness, pettiness, and stupidity, but really. Must they be that way ALL the time?
Ah well. I'll take my mind off things with these:
http://indiegameshowcase.com/ ~>Support the indie game business! Play their games!! They're quite addictive.
Mario Forever~> Classic, yes?
The Cavaliers winning against the Pistons and making it to the Finals~> Yes, this is absolutely awesome. The Pistons are a decent team, but if this Finals turned out to be another Spurs-Pistons game, I would've screamed my head off. I like neither team very much right now, what with the way the Spurs played the Suns and the Pistons...well, they didn't do anything--I just don't like the Pistons. If the Spurs win, I'll still scream my head off. I just wish LeBron and all the other players stick it to the Spurs and get their first championship.
Team Cheap and Dirty a.k.a. the San Antonio Spurs won the series against the Phoenix Suns 4-2.
I must admit, I lost all respect for the Spurs this season. They're a very good team, yes. I cheered for them in the finals two years back, yes. But in this series against the Suns, they had to play dirty. Dirty, dirty, dirty. Pffffffft.
I shall go wallow in misery now...and drown in lots of hot cocoa. ;_;
So Robert Horry, Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw will be suspended for an incident that happened in the last Spurs-Suns game. UNFAIR!!! Suns lose two of their best men, and the Spurs only lose Horry????
DIRTY, DIRTY, DIRTY!!! UNFAIR TO THE 10000000000000000^10000000000000000000000000TH DEGREE!!
I just hope the Suns can make it through even without Amare AND Diaw...else it will be harder for them to beat the Spurs.
Tsk. No wonder I woke up this morning feeling like crap.
Suns 101, Spurs 81.
*little victory dance*
Suns just have to play as well as they did today in the next 3 games, and Spurs are out!
I just wish I felt as good about the rest of the things in my life as I do about the game.
Does Not play well with others
Ooh, you're a dark one. Sitting in the corner, singing to yourself, playing with matches and twitching. Most of the time you instinctively avoid company, and if you're forced into close proximity, things do not go well. You can probably stop stabbing that teddybear now. It's not going anywhere.
What's your malfunction?
So the Suns lost to the Spurs last night. At the Suns' home court. BLEEEEECH. It was a stuuuuupid loss. Nash and Tony Parker got into a nasty collision in the 4th quarter, and Nash's nose got all bloodied up. He had to sit out for the last few minutes of the game because of the stuuuuuuupid rule that says no person can stay in the game if he has blood on his person or on his clothing. WTF? IT'S JUST BLOOD, PEOPLE. He could obviously still play for 4mins or so BUT THEY DIDN'T LET HIM!!!
What's more disappointing is that Phoenix could've taken the game anyway, but without Nash's leadership, they made costly fumbles. Sigh.
So the Spurs get the first game at the Sun's home court, big deal. I hope the Suns totally own them in the next games. *prays prays prays* For ONCE, I want the Suns to advance, OK?
Haven't done this in a while, which is surprising, since it's playoff season. It's probably because I can actually talk to my Pig (and his dad too!) about basketball, so I don't have the need to constantly blog about basketball. Anyway, here are the highlights from the first round:
Suns got in and kicked the Lakers' asses, YAY!!! 'Twas expected, but it still makes me very happy. The last game was pretty good--Suns 119, Lakers 110. I watched it with Pig's dad, who is a Lakers fan. If I weren't there, he would've been swearing his head off.
Also expected--the Spurs won against the Nuggets. Pig was rooting for Iverson, but the Spurs are just too good. I have no idea why he says the Spurs aren't that good--Ginobili + Parker + Duncan, anyone? Not to mention the four championships they've won over the past few years...
Very unexpected though--Bulls winning against Heat, and Golden State Warriors (yes, THAT team!!!) winning against the Mavs. Huwaaaaaaaat??? The Bulls...well maybe they're starting to regain their status as one of the best teams in the league. But the Warriors beating the Mavs, and with not just any defeat--a 111 to 86 defeat!! That's awesome-amazing. Prior to this season I didn't know that they were from Oakland--I just knew they were in some random city in California. Now everyone knows where they're from and what they did to Dallas' team. LOL.
Ah well. Enough of that. Sorry for the incoherence--must sleep.
How Stupid...
I've been bawling my eyes out the whole day. Then laughing. Then smiling. Then crying again. My sister says I look like a panda. Gahds...I feel stupid, my eyes hurt, and I look like a non-cute panda. But considering what happened last night and today, I think I deserve to be a total mess right now.
Remember that scene in the woodlands with X-3? God. Last night topped that by (10^100)! times, and more. I mean, that time with X-3 was pretty emotional and intense, but those feelings pale in comparison to this. I've realized this before, but last night just confirmed how paltry my feelings toward X-3 were. I suppose at one time I really did love him, but it was the kind of love that fades and is eventually remembered in a dim gray light.
This time, with Pig, it's not like that. Or at least, I hope it's not. My inner cynic (term borrowed from [info]farewell_mask) tells me you can never really know when it comes to love and relationships, but still... that intense emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual (yes, spiritual!) connection I have with him is unlike any I've ever had. There aren't really any words in any language--at least among the ones I know--that can describe it. It feels right. He's the one for me. That's all I have to know for now, because if I overanalyze what we share I'll probably end up ruining it.
Remember Sternberg's Triangular Theory of Love? Intimacy we have, though it's still new and growing. Passion, yes, yes--most definitely, YES. Commitment...well, not yet. But I want to have that too. I'm just waiting for him to ask, that's all.
It would've been a happy ending, but this is real life, and happy endings don't exist. Happy endings are all but new beginnings, right? This new beginning is bittersweet, tinged with memories of the past. Today I finally I let go of X-3, which is a sad thing, considering all the special moments we shared. Over half a year's worth of memories...maybe someday I can look back at them fondly and without hurting, but for now I can look forward to creating even more wonderful memories with Pig.
For 3(^@^)3 (that's a pig, in case you were wondering XD) )
In other, more amusing news, I bought a pianica for myself as an early birthday present. Yes, Nodame Cantabile had something to do with it, but I also missed the one I had in Japan, and I wanted to bring back some of the happy childhood memories I had with it. It arrived today by mail today, and it's...
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Well, I wouldn't call it gorgeous, though that's the first term that springs to mind. Gorgeous would be this:
(Someday I will buy this. SOMEDAY would be when I have $3900++ to spare.)
The pianica is...cute? Cuddly? Adorable?
I suppose I'll call my pianica Mongoose, after Nodame. Welcome to my musical instrument menagerie!!
Clickety for a sound sample, which I recorded on my new pc mic.
Now all I need to complete the menagerie would be a better violin, and a meisel spitfire electric violin. *Looks pointedly at calendar, then at friends*
In basketball news...
OMG, I GOT TO SEE STEVE NASH AND AMARE STOUDEMIRE. LIVE. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. They were tiny though, as we had the "nosebleed seats". Still. I got to see them in action. WOOOOOOOOOO.
I watched the Suns-Clippers game at the Staples Center with Pig last night. But the game wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. I thought the Clippers would put up more of a fight, but nooooooo. The Suns were running circles around them, and Diaw didn't even play. Nash didn't play for half the game either. 115-90? Seriously. That's pathetic. You can excuse that kind of score when the star players are gone, like in the case of that Suns-Supersonics game where Diaw and Nash were both out.
It's a good thing the evening had a better ending.
Ahh, the Cuteness!!
Cute tiger cubs + Steve Nash + Raja Bell= Loooooove
A pair of tiger cubs got named after Steve Nash and Raja Bell! This video shows the awesomeness. I mean, big cats and big basketball stars! How much cooler can you get? Nash doesn't know how to handle a cat though--he holds Nash the girl tiger like a baby. You can tell by her squint she doesn't like how she's being held by the guy she's named after.  Raja does a better job of holding his namesake, though since it's the boy tiger, it wants to jump out and run around instead of being held. Ah, the cuteness...
Isn't it funny how the white tiger is named for the white guy and the orange for the black guy? Ahahahahahahaha.
Speaking of Nash, Bell, and the rest of the Suns, I'm really looking forward to Tuesday. I'm gonna watch the Suns-Clippers game with Pig! My favorite team against his! Earlier in the season, I would've bet the Clippers didn't have a chance, but with Nash and Boris Diaw injured and possibly still not at their best, the Clippers have a pretty good chance of winning, or at least losing by less than 5pts. Omoshiroi dayo ne? Maybe I should make a bet or something...
HA!
Suns beat Spurs, 103 to 87!!
*dances victory dance*
OWNED, OWNED, OWNED, OWNED!!!!
I have an incredibly big and stupid grin right now, but it's only half because of the Suns totally mopped the floor with the Spurs. The other half is because I think I'll be getting my rainy day sooner than I hoped. \(^_^)/
...
Okay, I need to stop smiling now. My cheeks actually hurt.
